  1. There was once a robber named Pedlar Bán who never stole from a poor person but did all he could for them. One day he met with another man named Willie Brennan whom he robbed when he pointed a revolver at him and told him to hand out all he had.
    This man joined up with him. They were caught in Ferns in Co Wexford and were hanged. When they were up on the gallows they asked if there was any men from Munster present. If so there was a boat of gold hidden in Gortinee which is a field in Croan near Newcastle. It was never found so far. It is said that a dog is guarding it.
