  1. There was a ball-alley at the back of the old church in Ballybacon in which all the games were played long-ago, and men used to come from Lismore and Cashel to play in it.
    There were no over balls in those days, so the Lismore players took the kitchen table from my great-grandfather's house, and they placed it behind the church wall, one of them stood upon it and taking the ball over-hand succeeded in defeating the men from Cashel.
