    Local Marriage Customs.
    Weddings are usually held in Shrove.
    People say it is unlucky to get married on Monday and Friday. It is also said that May is an unlucky month to get married.
    Match making is carried out in our district.
    Sometimes when people are getting married they get hundreds of pounds as a dowry.
    There is a feast held at every wedding.
    The feast is held in the house of the bridegroom.
    The bride goes home after a month this is called the hauling home.
    Long ago the people used to race each other home.
    Long ago the wives used to ride home on horseback with their husbands but
