  1. My mother lived in a very old house. It had a mud floor and the fire was in the middle of the floor. It had a big hole in the roof with a tinny chimney outside. The old woman who lived next to her had her bed in the kitchen always. The house my lived in was thatched. Half-doors are common now. The people used candles long ago.
