  1. The forge in Cahir is situated on the Clonmel road. it has a slated roof. It is near a cross roads. The smiths name is Burke. He mends gates, ploughs, harrows and spades.
    The blacksmiths face is all black usually. The black smith uses, a knife, a file, and tongs when working; he uses a knife for paring the horses hoofs. He uses nails for keeping on the horse shoe and the hammer for driving in the nails. He uses the tongs for taking the horseshoe out of the fire.
