  1. On St Stephen's Day boys still follow the wren in this district. They carry about with them a holly bush, but rarely are they able to kill a wren. So a nest is made in the bush and if you inquire, they will tell you the wren is asleep in the nest.
    Large old hats are worn, long coats turned inside out, and long trousers and petticoats. Instead of blackening the face with polish or other substances, masks are now worn and it is almost impossible to recognise them when wearing these disguises.
    Some carry mouth organs and tin whistles, others old qallous and when they approach each door, they play on these instruments while others dance.
