  1. the townland of Earlshill is situated in the parish of Ballingarry, barony of Slievardagh and County of Tipperary.
    There are eighteen families in the townland with approximately sixty people.
    The most common family name is Maher.
    One house is thatched, three are covered with thatch (part) and slates (part)
    There are fourteen slated houses. Four of these are County Council Cottages
    There is only one person, Mrs Johanna Ryan, over seventy years. She does not speak Irish and cannot tell stories in English.
    Fifty years ago there were thirty families in the townland with an approximate population of one hundred and fifty people.
    Within that period all the members of five families emigrated to America taking with them their parents.
