  1. Marriage Customs.
    Marriages most frequently take place in Shrove and before Advent.
    It is supposed to be unlucky to get married in the month of May. People who get married in May are soon parted. Some days are luckier than others to get married. There is an old rhyme concerning this,
    "Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    And Saturday no day at all."
    Another old rhyme is.
    "She who changes the name, but not the letter, changes for the worst and not the better."
