  1. Local Happenings.
    There was a terrible fire in years gone by at a place called Ballynatten, about four miles from here, in the Mullinhone direction. The home went on fire some time in the night, and to make matters worse there was a big family sleeping in the house, and the saddest part was, that five or six were burned to death, before they could escape. It appears that the door could not be opened. So it was the saddest burning that ever took place in this district.
