  1. There was a bishop living in the "great house" in Shangarry, Ballingarry. This bishop in a moment of weakness renounced his faith and shortly afterwards married his cousin. One day they were driving to church in Lismolin and there was a man dying by the roadside. When the bishop saw the dying man he got down out of his carriage, heard the man's confession and gave him absolution. His wife was very displeases and asked if he believed in those things still, to which the bishop made reply. "Once a priest, a priest forever." This
