    That roused the dark slave, to his manhood again.
    The friends of his childhood companions of youth.
    And maidens he sang of whose beauty and truth
    Who wept for his fate, when in prison he lay
    Round his sanctified grave are all gathered today.
    And young men that vow that the fetters accurst
    Which shackle their limbs they've determined to burst
    Are come to his shrine, that resolve to renew
    And pledge it again they're loved
