    cause of his suspension by Archbishop Butler. He was ordained in Thurles and then sent to France to do his Philosophy + Theology. This was not a sound system to work on, but it was perhaps the best that could be done at that particular period of our history. Maher was born somewhere near Templemore. After his apostacy he wrote a book against the Catholic Doctrine on the Mass. Maher was a teacher in early life.
