  1. Philip Purcell who lived in Loughmore some years ago was a great jumper. On one occasion his brother was going to America and while they were waiting for the train at Templemore Station house. He jumped across the railway from one platform to the other in two standing jumps.

  2. A man named Lonergan lived in Loughmore one time. He was a great runner. On one occasion he was going to play hurling with Loughmore His master who was on the other team knew Lonergan was going to play and knew also that he was a very good player. The match was fixed for Sunday so on Saturday evening the man sent Lonergan with a message to Dublin. The were no bicycles used then and as he had no horse he
