  1. In some towns there are fair-greens but in Roscrea the fairs are held in the principal streets.
    From the early hours of the morning country people are coming into the town some with cattle, horses, others with sheep. The shops and hotels are open early for business and the banks and post office staffs are very busy as a great deal of money is cashed, and a lot of money is spent in the shops.
    On fair days many travelling people or tinkers come into the town. They generally deal in cheap horses. They make such a noise that they are to be heard all over the town.
