  1. The people long ago made bread from barm in the winter. They used to put the cake on ta griddle, and leave it for the fire till it was baked.

  2. There is a Griddle behind Paddy Ryan (Matt's) fire. When the people were going to America long ago they used to bake a big cake in this griddle, because they used get no food on the way. They used to put a cross on the top of the cake.
