- There is a hidden treasure on the top of Collan Hill. It was put there by the Danes when they were going out of Ireland.About Sixty years ago, a woman named
Maggie Berkery dreamt of the treasure. She was from Ballyneety. She dreamt that there were three firkins of gold hidden there. Then in her dream she saw the place where it was hidden. There were three bunches of rushes growing where it was hidden. She told eleven men about her dream, and they went and dug for it at twelve o'clock at night. They worked hard all night and at about four o'clock they came to a stairs. Then they followed the stairs and went into a kitchen. There they saw a flag on the hearth. One of the men lifted the flag with a spade, then about a million frogs jumped up. Then a dog followed them and left his foot on the spade. One man had a gun and he shot the dog, that appeared to them in the digging. This dog was suppose to stop the diggers, by putting his foot on the spade. All of them stopped working and went to their homes all of different places. Ten of the men died only one lived.- Collector
