  1. When calling the hens we say "Juck" "Juck". Twelve eggs are the usual number set for a hen to hatch. When setting geese a cross is put on each egg as an indication of luck. When the goslings are three days old or so they are held over the smoke for five minutes to prevent the crows from taking them when they are out in the field.
