  1. Very little is known about penal
times in this district. In a certain
field of a man named William
Ryan there is a circle of big stones
    standing upright in the corner
of the field. There is one big flat
stone and small stones all around
    it.
Some say it was a place of
worship while others say it was a
burial place. As a place of worship
it might have belonged to the
    pagans - nobody knows.
    Judging from the people in
this locality it would appear that
there were not many living here
in penal times. and those who
were in it had to travel some distance
to hear Mass. A priest was never known
to come here to say Mass.
