  1. Football was not played in olden times like it is today.
    There were two teams competing just the same as today, in an appointed playground with an equal number of competitors on eah side, the only difference was in their dress and the number that played at each side and the way the goal posts were placed.
    The number on each side was twenty one, they wore their own clothes with a green cap, and the four goal posts were placed in one straight line on the cross of the field, if the ball was put out between the two outer posts it was a 'point' and if it went out between the two middle ones it was a goal.
