  1. There is an old Castle situated in the townsland of Castletown in the parish of Kilmore and in the Barony of Upper Ormond. At one time it belonged to the O'Kennedys but it was taken from them by Cromwell. It is round in shape and it is built beside a stream. There is a dungeon in it in which their is gold hid. It was built by the Normans. There is a L wall built around it of stone and clay and it is very hard to be taken by the enemy. Cromwell tried twice to take it but failed he tried the third time and succeeded.
