- There is not a single tailor in this district now. In my Grandfather's time there were half a dozen in the district. They used travel from house to house when required. There is no cloth spun or woven locally. The working men wear rough tweeds at their work. There are shirts made in this district. There are stockings and socks knitted locally. There is not any thread spun in the homes. There is not a single spinning wheel in the district. At the death of a relative people wear black mourning clothes. On Saint Patrick's Day the Irish wear green such as green ribbons, green handkerchiefs and harps.(continues on next page)
