    There is the ruins of a castle in the church grounds opposite the school.

    There is the ruins of a castle in the church grounds opposite the school. It was built be Theobald Fitz Walter in the year 1200, who came to Ireland with Prince John, he selected the site of his residence and built here the great keep now known as Nenagh Castle.
