Long ago wool was spun in the parish. It was spun with a spinning wheel. There are some of those wheels in the district still. There is one in the house of Mr. Kennedy of Killard. It was owned by his grandfather. His father often used it. Every year a Mrs Ryan of Carney used bring her wool to the house of Mr. Kennedy and used have it spun. There is also one at the house of Mr. Gleason of Killard. It was found in a ditch of a field near his residence.
