    Long ago people went barefooted the whole year round. Later on they began to wear boots about the age of twelve or fourteen years.
    Long ago people believed that if you put the water in which you washed your feet, in a hole in the ground, your feet would not get dirty for six weeks.
    There are no shoemakers in the district. Thirty years ago there were six. The old people still repair their own boots. The people used wear clogs also. They are still worn by people in some parts of the parish.
