(continued from previous page)callow, and is surrounded by a stream. It is said that when the inhabitants of the castle saw the enemy approaching they made a river around the castle.
Annagh is not as large as Lisquilabeen. Annagh means "a wet place" or bog. The land is mostly boggy and wet. There are seven families in this townland and there are upwards of forty people in it. Three of the houses have slated roofs. One is thatched and the other two have tiled roofs. Houses were not more numerous in former days. There are only two ruins. One of those ruins is said to have been a military barrack in olden times. There is also a castle in this townland. It was also built by the O'Kennedy's the same time as the "black castle" was built.
Kilbileer is a small townland in comparison with the other two. There are four families living there. The people number about twenty. The land is good and there are a number of woods in this townland. The houses are all slated.(continues on next page)- Collector
