The names of districts adjoining my home are Prospect, Knocknacarton, Shanvalley, Glebe, Rockvalley and Peterfield. Some of those places are noted for their history.
Knocknacarton is in the parish of Kilodiernan and in the barony of Lower Ormond. There are four families in Knocknacarton, three in Shanvally and three in Peterfield. Knocknacarton was formerly known as Claree. Then the name Knocknacarton which means "hill of the forge was given to it.
There are nine families in Prospect and forty-five people. The houses are slated and none of them are very old. There were many more people living there in former days. Shanvalley got its name because there was an old valley in that district. There are three families in Shanvalley. Glebe and Rock Valley are nearer[?] Knocknacarton.
