    the women of the house make buck-cakes for the pickers. They enjoy their feast and go home happy after their work. On Shrove Tuesday night many people make pan-cakes. The ingredients used in those cakes are eggs, sugar, milk, flour and sometimes a little cream is added. Rings, rags, and a piece of timber is put into them. Whoever gets the ring will marry first. The person who gets the piece of timber will die first. Rags are a sign of an old maid or batchelor.
