  1. Here I lie down this night to sleep
To God I give my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I pray to God my soul to take.
This prayer was said by the people in olden times before they went to bed.
There are four corners on my bed,
Four blessed angels round them spread
Two at my feet two at my head
May the Lord protect me in my bed.
Heart of Jesus once in agony have pity on the dying.
I, Mary Hayes, Ballynavin, Borrisokane, got this from my mother, Mrs Hayes, Ballynavin, Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary.
