    (c) The cutting of turf for sale in districts where no bogs abounded was carried on largely in Terryglass. Men, at the time (about fifty years ago) were great turf-cutters and they vied with one another as to which slane's [?] man could cut the greatest number of "kish" of turf in the day.
    Men worked from sunrise to sunset during the turf-cutting season, and whatever was made by the sale of turf was hard earned.
    Boats called at Terryglass quay to take away this turf to Youghal, Nenagh.
