  1. There is an old Mass Path from Thomas Costelloe's in Redwood, across the bog to Redwood Chapel. It is in use since the Penal Times. There is another Mass Path from Killycross, and through Mr. Kenny's demesne. A Mass Stone is also here.
    Before bridges were built the Shannon was crossed at a place called White's Ford.
    O'Sullivan Beare and his army crossed here into Connaught.
    The place where they killed their horses for food is called Poll na gCapall[?].
    Some of the bones were unearthed in digging the foundations for new houses, when the Land Commission houses were being built.
