St Ciaran's well between the Pike and Rathcabbin, on a side-road about 60 yds off the Birr-Portumna Road.

St Ciaran's Well between the Pike and Rathcabbin, on a side-road about 60 yds off the Birr-Portumna Road. Called after Ciaran, because one day when passing he went in for a drink, and left the track of his knee on a stone outside the well.
Its waters are used for the cures of boils and sores. They are applied to the affected parts.
A salmon swims in the well, but cannot be caught, as it makes its disappearance under the well wall. A square wall of cement is built round the well and there are fir trees growing on three sides of it.
