    At Patrickswell court one day a lady was charged in custody with being drunk and disorderly in Patrickswell the previous night. she gave her name as Mary Boland and described herself as a stage actress. She was sentenced to 14 days in jail.
    The "Reporter" for the press thought that he heard a policeman singing the following verse.

    "Arise Miss Mary Boland and come along with me.
    That vigilant man Mullholland found you on a spree.
    Sweet is police protection when might against right do rage.
    Different their subjection my bright star of the stage.
    Two coppers now shall take thee you'll be consigned by mail.
    To meet with captain Gildea the master of the jail.
    How many dream of cheering thousands down in that captains cage.
    Then you bowed bowed before the footlights My bright star of the stage.
