    Durting the time of the Penal Laws a Synod was held in a little Church (of which no trace exists at present) on the side of the road within a hundred yard or so of the present school of Garrydoolis.
    Although the exact year in which it was held is not known the fact that the Synod was convened in such as remote place is evidence that it must have been during the period of the Penal Laws.
