  1. Long ago there were such things as hedge school, taught by smart men in their own homes. With a table for a desk and a stool to sit on, no boards, no maps and no jottors only a slate and a pencil. There was a hedge school teacher named James Molony who lived in Killinagariff and the parents had to pay him school fees so much a quarter according to the classes. Only for the hedge school teachers the people that were far away from the schools would have no education.
