It is not right to get married on a wet day, for lucky is the bride the sun shines on.
It is said that a matchmaker always takes a blackthorn stick with him when making a match. - Marriages most frequently take place in Shrove. Fridays are supposed to be unlucky days for marriages. Very seldom people marry in the month of May, because it is counted an unlucky month.
