  1. The following narrated by Mr Michael Ahern N T Foilacleara N.S. Told to him by his father Thomas Ahern who would be about 98 years if he were alive now.
Once upon a time there was a man out late at night and the devil jumped up on his back the man told him to get down. The devil said he would get down at the first house he would meet. When they came to the first the man told him to get down but he told him to listen. They heard the people sayng the "Rosary". "Oh! no I cannot go in there" said the devil. They went along to another house. "Will you go in here" asked the man. Just then the woman of the house threw out the "feet water". Oh! no I cannot go in here they have thrown out the "feet water". On reaching the third house they heard the man and the woman fighting. "Oh! let me in here said the devil" and from that day to this the people throw away the "feet water" that is water in which feet were washed.
