"Birin" is a cure which old people believed in long ago. It was procured by suspending a piece of smoked bacon from the roof of the dwelling house on Shrove Tuesday night. This when cut in thin slices and applied to the effected part has a smoothing effect.
The dandelion is a great tonic, there are two kinds. One has a white vein which is to be used by men the other has a red vein and is to be used by women.
There is a plant growing that cures whooping cough, it is called the mouse ear herb.
The cabbage in our gardens is a great cure for sores. The coarse side draws a sore and the smooth side is a quick healer.
