    Some time ago I heard a story about a black dog which used to haunt a little stream called the "Suil".

    Some time ago I heard a story about a black dog which used to haunt a little stream called the "Suil". This dog used to come from Derk to the "Suil" every night. One evening about dusk a certain man was coming from the town of Tipperary riding a beautiful steel-grey horse. As he was coming along he met the dog in its nightly journey and he struck him with the whip. Maddened by the stroke, the dog commenced to bark and as he barked flames of fire seemed to come out of his mouth. The man was greatly frightened when he saw this so he dashed spurs into his horse's sides. This made the horse gallop very fast and he reached his destination in less than no time. He put the horse into the stable and went into the dwelling-house. When he was
