  1. Lough Gur Side
    I
I know a maiden fair and young.
But I can't tell you her name,
She lives not far from Lough Gur side,
    That noted places of fame,
    Where Desmond's Castles towering high
    Where Chieftans did reside
I'd for ever stray with that maid so gay
    Down by Lough Gur side.
    II
Her hair is fair I do declare
And her eyes with love shine bright
The apple blossoms on her cheeks
    Her teeth like snowdrifts white
No maid so fair I could compare
From the Shannon to the Clyde
With that lovely queen mild and genteel
Who lives by Lough Gur side.
