    In the presence of the governess and the children a hole was dug at the spot indicated. Soon a large flat flagstone was discovered and when this [was] raised a large cavity or hole was found beneath it.
    At the bottom of the hole there was visible the sign or trace of a crock which probably contained treasure of some sort, But beyond that no gold or treasure of any kind was discovered there. Whatever treasure had been there previously had vanished.
    The Baily home fell into rack and ruin when the last of the Miss Bailys died.
    The visitor is supposed to be the Earl of Desmond.
