  1. 38. Fairies
One time there was a man, who was fond of digging up moats. He found a gold box with the remains of a fairy king in it.
He brought it home, and in the night he heard strange noises in the room where he had the old king. He got up and went into the room where the noise was. He saw the old king alive, and all the fairies around him. They caught the man and told him that if he did not put their king back they would kill him. He put back the box and king, and he never dug moats after that morning. That moat is in Mr. John Cleary's land.
    Told to Eamon Cleary.
