  1. The Enchanted Lake,
Three men went one day to drain one of the lakes on top of the Galtees. It is believed that there is a lot of gold buried at the bottom of the lake, and they went looking for it. They dug away as hard as they could for an hour or so: then they sat down to take a smoke. One of them looked towards home, and saw that all the country around was on fire. The three men went down in great haste with the intention of putting out the fire, but when they arrived it was not on fire at all. They went back again to their work and the same thing happened again. Then they returned home believing that the lake was enchanged.
