Last night a young man a neighbour of mine called to my house. In the course of conversation the young fellow said "Some neighbour must be going to die" "Why" I asked, "Well," said he, we couldn't sleep a wink last night with the dog crying very mournfully from before 12 until about 1 oclock. He didn't bark but continued the mournful whining all the time."
This morning the first news I heard was that a young man had died rather suddenly at 8 p.m. yesterday.
The dead man belonged top the same locality as the man whose dog was whining. Both families live in a very lonely place and some time ago the house of the latter was regarded as being haunted.
