“One night at about twelve oclock a smith was in bed when he heard a knock at the door.”
One night at about twelve o'clock a smith was in bed when he heard a knock at the door. He got up and went to the door and opened it. When he opened it he saw a man outside with a horse who asked him to she the horse. The smith did as he was told.
When he had the horse shod the man went away without saying anything. It was a fairy that asked him to shoe the horse. It was after the smith found out that it was a fairy he had shod the horse for.
The smith was not in the better of it for a long time afterwards.
