  1. When a calf dies of Black Quarter they hang a quarter on the chimney.
    Hairs from each cow's tail in the bawn when made into a spancel will keep the butter.
    On Shrove Tuesday night the people cut a piece of meat off the leaving after the dinner. This small piece was stuck on the end of a pointed stick and then stuck in the thatch. It was called the Bireen and was supposed to bring luck to the house.
    When people are milking cows the passerby should always say "God bless you".
    If you are taken into a pig house to see a pig or any other animal you should say "It's a fine pig God bless it".
    A horse-shoe when nailed to the stable-door bring luck.
