  1. James Carroll or as he was know by the neighbours Jimmy from Limerick composed still another poem in praise of William Fogarty Esq. farmer, Spittle, Ballylanders, Co Limk. who came from Ballybricken.
    When Fogarty heard Jimmy singing the song he gave him 5/-.
    I
    The name of this farmer I don't mean to conceal
    Whose ancestors in battle often did weild
    The scian and broad-sword their country to shield

    Carroll went off o U.S.A. in 1879.He got off through the "Galtee Boy". On his way across he was swept off the deck by one wave & thrown up on deck again by another.
