  1. Mr. Reilly taught a hedge school just beside where Maurice Noonan's house now stands in Ballinamuddy Barna, Co. Limerick and about three miles from Anglesboro'. A man called Denis Ryan who married Maurice Noonan's daughter Bridie is now the owner of the house and farm. The walls of the hedge school are still to be seen. It was a little thatched house on the side of the road. Reilly taught there in the year 1871.
    Some boys paid 1/- a year and others paid 3/- or 4/- a year according to their means.
    The boys brought a sod of turf each and wrote on slates or old
