    he had spread the new movement all over the states and was able to send £32,500 home to Ireland. He was elected Colonel by the Volunteers.
    He sent officers to Ireland to drill the Irish. After a while he wanted to rebel. They persuaded him not to. Both in America and in Ireland he did considerable work as a journallist. In the annals of American Fenianism his name stands supreme and his death which occured on the seventh day of February 1877. His body was brought home to Ireland and buried in Glass Nevin.
