  2. Long ago there lived a woman in Kilfinane and the people around the district said that she had power from the devil. Every night she went to a farmer's field where the cows were and milked them. When the farmer went out next morning he had no milk to get. The farmer got the two best hounds in the parish, and one of them would bring back anything he had killed.
    One morning the farmer went to the field where she was and when he came near her he set the hounds after her and they killed her. The farmer had a pot of boiling water on the fire, and when the dog brought back the hare he boiled it. At the same time he had the sock of a
