  1. On top of Ballintubber mountain stands a rock called Parlour Rock which is about 60 or 70 feet high. On the west side of this rock is a cave known locally as "Seomra Nora". The following is the story of the cave. The daughter of a chieftan from Bruree who had to fly from her home for some reason to refuge in the cave and from her it got the name of "Seomra Nora"

  2. During the time when the Danes were ravaging Ireland it is said that they hid gold and other treasure in several places up and down the country. One of these treasures is supposed to have been hidden in Thomastown in a field owned at present by Mac Donalds. The Danes themselves that hid it never came to claim it and it is supposed that many attempts have been made to unearth it. Tradition tells us that anyone who may
